Volunteer Positions Available

On-Line/Hotline Volunteer: This is a NEW volunteer position for The Center, starting in August 2006, The Center has teamed up with RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) and we help them with a real-time chat room session through the On-Line Hotline from 11 am to 11 pm Monday through Friday. This position requires you to complete the 40 hour Advocate Training and an additional 10 hour on-line training through RAINN. If you are interested in the on-line hotline, keep in mind after all training is completed; shifts must be completed from The Center.

Special Event Volunteers: Throughout the year The Rape Crisis Center puts on special events such as The Vagina Monologues, Take Back the Night Rally, King William Fair Parade, and local fundraisers. If you don’t have the time to commit to be a daily, weekly or monthly volunteer, and you just want to help out when you have the time, this is the perfect position for you.

Who Can Volunteer

The Center needs caring, compassionate people – men and women. Some of our advocates are themselves survivors of sexual assault but not all are. No prior experience or training is required – just a desire to help those in crisis. Please see the types of volunteer programs available below.
