(AM Session) - Stalking is a growing concern in the United States, not only for the victims of stalking, but also for law enforcement that are tasked to
investigate these cases. Because stalking is a difficult crime to pinpoint, learning about how a stalker thinks and acts is useful in identifying,
investigating and prosecuting these cases. Understanding the different types of stalkers, Texas stalking laws and what a victim can do to protect
themselves is included in this presentation.
(PM Session) - The purpose of this training is to prepare police officers for the difficulties in investigating sexual assaults were the investigation revolves
around the credibility of the parties involved. We will discuss the prevalence of acquaintance rape, the community response to this crime and the
challenges involved with this type of crime. We will look at the rape myths that we must overcome to objectively investigate these crimes. The
class will cover intoxication as a defense and we will discuss whether or not women lie about being raped. Finally, we will discuss how to document
these types of crimes.
3 CEUs per session for Therapists: LPC and LCDC, Social Workers, Psychologists: LP, PLP, LPA and LSSP
